Six Sigma
Six Sigma is a powerful business improvement approach that provides operational managers and their staff with the ability to maximise business efficiencies by controlling process variation and reducing defects to ensure that customer requirements are met. It has become increasingly popular over the last 15 years with many manufacturing and service businesses realising sustained performance improvements after they have successfully adopted Six Sigma principles.

In its simplest form Six Sigma can by viewed as a business improvement methodology and a management approach to improve the effectiveness of a business. The DMAICT Methodology is at the heart of Six Sigma providing a robust framework for improvement projects. Each stage of the methodology has clearly defined deliverables and a toolkit from which improvement practitioners can select the appropriate tools and techniques to deliver the project. The foundation of the methodology is based upon a number of key principles: fact based decision making, process management & control, understanding & managing variation and aligning performance with customer expectations. A 6 Sigma business managed around its core processes. This is characterised by decisions based upon fact and data. As the business matures performance is measured from the customer’s point of view. The gap between current performance & Customer expectations is clearly understood and proactively managed to drive improvement activity.

Six Sigma Training

Curriculum & Format

Our curriculum has been designed and developed in consultation with three General Electric (GE) Master Black Belts who specialise in delivering improvement programmes within Sales & Marketing, Operations, Manufacturing and Distribution functions and have collectively trained over 1000 Green and Black Belt resources. Our programmes are delivered in a modular format to aid learning and provide an applied learning approach.

Certification & Examinations

Certified courses (LSS103, LSS105, LSS106 and LSS107) offer delegates a recognised industry qualification based on the General Electric (GE) model of Six Sigma. Upon completion of Certified courses delegates will sit an examination to complete the training element of certification. Full certification is then achieved 6-12 months after the training upon completion of an improvement project or projects. Lean Six Sigma skills are assessed through interview and the presentation of project storyboard and outcomes.
